What are some of the reasons why people would digitally manipulate an image?

Someone might post an enhanced bombing picture to make the scene look worse then it is so people will want to look at it.

Where do we draw the line? Consider fashion (skinny, more attractive models) and news reporting (faked or combined photos).

People shouldn't be photoshoping most of the picture in magazines and all of the pictures of the models should be more natural. For news pictures the pictures need to be accurate and realistic to the situation that they are reporting about.

What is ethical (or the right thing to do) in the digital manipulation and enhancement of a photo and what is not ethical?

it is not ethical to change how people look in magazines pictures or to change how news posts look like.
